Piano

Celebration Series Perspectives®                                                 

Celebration Series Perspectives® serves as the official resource for piano assessments of The Royal Conservatory Music Development Program. Featuring an outstanding selection of piano literature and supporting materials, this series offers a truly enriched learning experience to help ensure student success. The series also offers a source of literature that is convenient and all in one place, selected and edited to the highest pedagogical standards.

Celebration Series Perspectives® includes 11 Piano Repertoire books (Preparatory through Level 10), ten Piano Etudes books (Levels 1 to 10), nine Student Workbooks (Preparatory to Level 8), 11 compact discs (Preparatory through Level 10), and two resource books designed for use with the series, the Handbook for Teachers and the Answer Book for Student Workbooks.

Technical Requirements for Piano

This leveled series meets the requirements of the Music Development Program and includes nine books, from Preparatory to Level 8.

Academic (Theory)

Practice Academic Assessments

Available for Rudiments, Harmony, History, Counterpoint, Analysis, ARCT Piano Teacher's Written, and Piano Pedagogy Written assessments.

Submit a practice paper from the The Royal Conservatory Official Assessments Papers, 2013 Edition for assessment in preparation for your actual assessments.

Receive the Practice Academic Assessment, marked by a Royal Conservatory Adjudicator, in time to review the feedback in advance of your assessments.

Please note: Practice papers submitted for assessment MUST be taken from the The Royal Conservatory Official Assessments Papers, 2013 Edition. Papers from previous editions of the Official Assessments Papers cannot be accepted for assessment. Assessments do not necessarily reflect your potential performance on a academic assessments under normal assessments conditions. The comments and marks should only be used as tools for review and improvement.

Students will receive the assessed paper back through the mail 2 – 3 weeks after the date of the submission. The practice paper will be assessed by a Royal Conservatory Adjudicator. Students will receive a mark and brief comments on their assessed practice paper.

Practice Academic Assessment requests may be submitted at anytime during the year. However, if you have registered for an assessments, and wish to receive timely feedback, then your Practice Academic Assessment request must be received by The Royal Conservatory Music Development Program no later than the deadlines for submission indicated below:

Nov/Dec Deadline:  October 15, 2013
May/Jun Deadline:  February 11, 2014

Requests for Practice Academic Assessments received after the respective deadline cannot be guaranteed to be returned to you in time for the relevant assessments session.

To submit a practice assessment:

  • Complete any practice academic paper from The Royal Conservatory Official Assessments Papers, 2013 Edition.
  • Download and fill out the Practice Academic Assessment Submission Form.
  • Mail the completed practice paper and Practice Academic Assessment Submission Form with the requisite fee of $55 to:

Four Star Sight Reading and Ear Tests

This series of 11 books corresponds to the levels of The Royal Conservatory Music Development Program. It provides students at each level with daily sight reading exercises, ear tests, and writing exercises to complete at home, as well as tests for the teacher to easily incorporate into the lesson.

Musical theater and popular styles are represented in Levels 1 through 8 of the repertoire books.
